TVR announced the jury for SELECTIA NATIONALA 2018. Marian Ionescu, Ilinca Băcilă, Nicu Patoi, Liliana Ştefan and Viorel Gavrilă are this year's jury members. Ilinca, as you all know, was part of the duet that brought Romania the 7th place at Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv, with the song " Yodel It!, along Alex Florea, who is competing again this year! Viorel Gavrilă is a prolific romanian composer, with more that 270 songs composed for the romanian musical scene. Yesterday began the live auditions for the 72 songs competing in " Selectia Nationala 2018".Among the hopefuls this year are: Feli, JUkebox, MIHAI ( ESC 2006), Alex Florea (ESC 2017), Eduard Santha or Xandra, and among the compoiser we have artists from Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Moldova. The auditions are recorded live in the TVR studios, and probably will be broadcasted at some point later this year. The jury has to decide the 60 songs participating in the semifinals. Today TVR opened the submissions for Eurovision 2018. Between 15 November and 15 December 2018, all composers are free to submit a song or more which can be sent in physical format at the TVR headquarters or by email at eurovision.romania@tvr.ro. The schedule for the selection process will be as it follows: Between 18-20 December, all the submitted songs and performing artists will be invited in the TVR studios for a live presentantion of their song in front of a jury. TVR just announced that SELECTIA NATIONALA 2018 will take place in 5 semifinals and a final, in a total of 6 different cities in Romania. The slogan under wich the event will take place is „Eurovision uneşte România!” meaning " Eurovision unites Romania!". This has to do with the fact that in 2018 Romania celebrates 100 years from the Great Union of the three historical provinces. The Eurovision Song Contest 2018 will be held in Lisbon on 8, 10 and 12 May, at the MEO Arena, following the win of Salvador Sobral with "Amar pelos dois". 25 countries already confirmed their provisional interest in participating next year. Estonia will have it's national final on 3rd of March, Malta in January, Switzerland on 4rd of February and Portugal on the 4th of March. The media outlet Ziua de Cluj released an article that reveals the plans for the municipality to host " Selectia nationala 2018". They already addopted the budglet for the next year event, so everything looks pretty settled. Plus the article was also shared by Eurovision Romania official facebook page.
